The Therapy Room Does Not Exist In A Vacuum

Every conversation is touched by the world outside — its fractures, its inequities, its relentless churn of crisis.

The political climate enters with us. These realities settle into the body, making their way into our capacity to listen and hold.

Our clients bring their versions of this weight, shaped by identity, history, and lived experience. And we, as mental health workers, carry our own. Some days we feel steady. Other days, not so much.

The crisis isn't just background noise; it's a dynamic force actively shaping our lives, that weighs us down. We carry fear, anger, and disillusionment, and at times wonder if anything can truly shift.

We tend to personal wounds that originate in collective ruptures. We speak of “healing” while standing in the shadow of systems that often deny us the very conditions for it.

Yet, something deeper unfolds: Even in the quietest corners of the therapy room, we prove that safety, accountability, and connection are possible. Our quietest offerings carry forward, leaving imprints that quietly reshape the world.

The demand for change must rise to policy and power. And, resistance is equally woven through the small, steady gestures of care.
